DerekMy geneology searches have lead me to the name of a castle called Fillingham castle. The notes I have were hand written so I am not sure whether "Fillingham" is absolutely correct. The notes also are also unclear about whether it is in Yorkshire or Lincolnshire. I can find nothing on the internet using Fillingham as a keyword. Can anyone help? It was once owned by Sir Cecil Wray

Philip DavisOf the castles in my limited database the one most close to Fillingham is Cottingham Nr Beverely. I have no record of Sir Cecil Wray. You may find more information if you use the Royal Commission of Historic Monuments MONARCH database; details at:- http://www.rchme.gov.uk/nmr.html
Philip DavisCottingham Castle is also known as Baynard Castle.
John BallFillingham Castle was built in 1760 by Cecil Wray, so is a castle in name only. It is in Lincolnshire around the town of Fillingham (Sk 9485) I believe. That is all I have on this one.
DerekThank you to all of you that are responding to my query about Fillingham Castle.

I have found out that it does exist (7.5 miles North of Lincoln) but is in a bad state. See this site

I would appreciate if any castle enthusiast could photograph it for me. A flight to the UK is bit of drag.

Thanks again
Derek Wray Townshend
